We are a large disco bar that is a favourite haunt of the LGBTQI+ community in Cork for over 15 years. Chambers Bar was established in November 2006 on Washington St. in the heart of Cork City. Facing the iconic Cork Courthouse, this is where our name came from. We have welcomed our LGBT community from the four corners of the globe and always provide a warm welcome for all.

Cork has a rich legacy of LGBT history and activism which is only to be expected from the “Rebel County”. Cork is often not given the acknowledgement it deserves in terms of our LGBT history. We have a history of firsts here in Cork and many of them before the decriminalisation of homosexuality in 1993.

• The first National Gay Conference was held in 1981.
• UCC became the first NUI College to recognise an LGBT Society in 1989.
• The first LGBT film festival in 1991.
• The first LGBT float in a St. Patricks Day festival in 1992.
• Ireland’s first rapid HIV testing in LGBT+ venues was in Chambers bar in 2015.

Chambers is very proud to be the home of drag in Cork City with nightly drag shows every Thursday to Sunday. Our resident quartet of Mia Gold, Letycha LeSynn, Nettles and Liam Bee are known for their legendary lip-syncs, death drops and pulling the odd random drinker and audience members up on stage for all kinds of fun games and frolics.Our stage and drag queens form the heart of Chambers bar. Famous for our colourful cocktails, infamous rainbow rounds, legendary dancefloor, Bingo, Karaoke, and Tdances. Whatever, vibe you fancy, there is something for everyone in Chambers.Chambers Bar welcomes all of the community including students. Décor includes iconic images of legends past and present from the community.

We are a colourful city full of colourful people and a very colourful property.

Like the LGBTQI+ Flag, each colour is a meaning full expression of the community like violet for spirit, indigo for harmony, turquoise for art, green for nature, yellow for sunlight, orange for healing, red for life and hot pink for sex.

This flag is at the core of our community and we support it like the many local LGBTQI+ organisations that we are proud to collaborate with, and provide amazing resources for our amazing community.
